A little history
The Megève altiport was created in 1963. It will be inaugurated on the 20th December 1964 by Air Alpes, two years after the Courchevel airport. Megève registers as the 3rd approved altiport, just behind Méribel. Shortly thereafter, the Alpe d’Huez will also be approved by Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
Public transport began in 1964 with Air Alpes, with Piston-powered Pilatus PC6s equipped with skis.
As in Courchevel, Air Alpes operated the Altiport of Megève in commercial transport with the DHC-6 Twin Otter (20 seats), ensuring links with Grenoble and Lyon.
